What is FIREMED?

WHAT IS FIREMED?

FireMed Is an ambulance membership program effective in Polk County Fire District's ASA (Ambulance  Service Area) such as Buena Vista, Airlie, Pedee, Suver, Indepedence and Monmouth (please see District Map).

 

WHY SUBSCRIBE TO FIREMED?

Members of FireMed are provided with emergency pre-hospital medical care and ground ambulance transportation and protection from any out-of-pocket costs after insurance billing for medically necessary emergent and non-emergent* ambulance care and transportation. Emergency transportation will be to the nearest appropriate hospital. 

FireMed is NOT insurance, but should be used in addition to any medical benefits members may have.

Members pay an annual membership fee of $65.00. 

 

WHO IS COVERED WITH THE MEMBERSHIP?

FireMed covers all permanent residents living at your home address, including persons living together as a family unit. A spouse or dependent living in a nursing home or residential care facility is covered if the care facility is within ambulance service boundaries. 

Not included are roommates, or boarders, who are required to obtain their own separate membership.
